Extensions and hair color.?

The sewn-on hair extensions actually happen to be the cheapest to put in. What happens is braids (cornrows) are made from left to right at the back and sides of your head. Then, rows of hair (must be human hair if you are having them dyed) are sewn to the braids with thread that matches the hair colour. This does not hurt at all, but you may not like it when the braids are being done and they should be tight. The next day you may have some discomfort, but you will get used to it.

In terms of cost, the human hair (if you purchase it at a beauty supply store) can vary with the quality. For 'Remy' hair (meaning the best quality) you can pay $100 for a package with a weft of 30 inches wide. For lesser quality (which isn't bad either) you can expect to pay up to $70. I would strongly suggest you purchase your own hair and then bring it to the salon to have it sewn in. There is a large markup when you buy in-salon. The salesperson at the beauty supply store will help you choose the right shade and texture (curly, straight, wavy).

In terms of colouring your hair, try to wait until you get the extensions in first. That way you can have them dyed as well. If you are adding blonde and don't want to look super-fake, I would suggest doing honey blonde and strawberry lowlights as well as lighter highlights. This will help the highlights blend better and not look too chunky. To have highlighting done, expect to pay between $80-120.

To save money, talk to your stylist and see if they can do both the extensions and the highlights on the same day and to give you a special price because you are getting so much done.

Hope that helped!

Let me know if I can add anything else.

PS%26gt; I just read some of the other responses which say that sewn-in hair extensions (called 'weaves') can be $500 just for the hair. That is false. Whoever had that done wasted their money BIG time. Inquire at salons in areas with more black people. This may sound weird, but a lot of black ladies get weaves done, sometimes changing their styles 6-8 times a year. If this cost $500 dollars each time, do you think they would do it? Trust me, ask around. Don't go for the first price. And for heaven's sake, don't listen to the other responses saying that it cost that much.

Extensions and hair color.?

I had extensions sewn in after getting 'tracks' of hair braided onto my scalp. The process wasn't all that painfull but the next day I woke up with the worst headache I'd ever had. I ended up so desperate to get the extensions off my head that I ripped them out with a seam ripper. This was my second set of extensions -- the first were glued in and that was the best investment I made. I paid $400 about 5 years ago, so I'm sure it is much more expensive now.

Extensions and hair color.?

yes it does hurt!! sewing damages your hair big time!!! u know like a lot...so if i were you..buy the clip ins..cost less than sewing

second one..yes blonde and dark brown..love it! it works with any skintone types...

Extensions and hair color.?

I have a friend that does hair and has had extensions before the only insight I can offer is that she says extensions do hurt. And it is better to come to your appt. with some advil or tylenol aleady in your system because your scalp should hurt even if they are being sewn.

Depending on the length and amount of tracks (hair) you want in your hair will vary on the cost. To buy real human hair to do someone with about my length and thickness, with the goal of adding an extra 6 inches of extensions it would be about $500 - just to buy the hair alone. Then you have to add the cost of the procedure which varies depending on the stylist.

Adding blond would look good as long as it is not to platinum blond and is toned down to compliment your hair color.

Extensions and hair color.?

well first what you have to do is dye your hair and wait for two weeks to get the sew-in due to chemicals. sew-ins dont hurt and the price for them starts from 75 and up . for the colors it would look right but it all depends on the style.
